Our story

Happy Library worker, The Globe Stokesley, Community, Our Story

Welcome to the Globe, your community library at Stokesley, managed and delivered by volunteers, in partnership with North Yorkshire County Council.

The Globe started as a community-run library on 1 April 2017 and was officially opened on 15 June 2017 by celebrated historical novelist and academic Philippa Gregory.

We serve Stokesley and surrounding districts, including Seamer, Hutton Rudby and Swainby.

The Globe relies on donations and volunteers to keep open, as well as support from our business sponsors and friends.

We are also generously funded by Stokesley Town Council (including the employment of a Library Manager) and also received financial support from various local Parish Councils.

Apart from the loan of books, we offer a number of services and organise various events. Please explore this website, or better still visit the library itself, to find out more.
