Winners of The Globe's first Short Story Competition announced

Chris Bostock, the Storyteller entertained an audience at The Globe Library on Friday evening.  He also read out excerpts from some of the entries to The Globe’s first Short Story Competition.

The remainder of the evening was compered by Jan Hunter, the head of the judging team who announced the winners and presented the certificates and prizes.

The winner of the 14-17 years category was Bryony Agar with “Growth”.  She was unable to attend the evening but her prize was collected by pround grandparents.

The runner up for this category was Grace McConnell for “When the Tide Comes In”.

Stella Kennedy with “Growing up Lethal” and Lucy Ann Barker with “Missing” were highly commended.

The over 18 Category was won by Jane Edwards for “She Brought me Flowers”.

Alan Pilkington was runner up for “The Beech Hut”.

Janet Philo with “Be Mine”, Helen Johnson with “The Getaway” and Brian Holland with “September Song” were all highly commended.

There was a special prize for Janice Wu who is 10 so didn’t qualify for the 14-18 category but submitted “Little Albert”.

It was an excellent evening and we are looking forward to The Globe Short Story Competition 2019.  The winning and commended entires will be available in the library for everyone to read.
